Kauko was born in a somewhat small town in Finland into a wealthy family. His father needed to travel a lot due to his business, which in turn made his mother have to leave as well. (she's an informal executive, does bookkeeping etc.) Because of this Kau was mostly looked after by his sister and house keepers when he was younger. As the children got older they traveled often with their parents. He tended to be disliked and teased in his hometown so for the most part he would play alone or with Saff. One of the most prominent moves the made was to Russia where he met Adrik and because friends with him. Adrik is still his bestie and Kau tends to keep in touch with him more often them his other acquaintances he's made. Kau's family is currently in Japan and lives fairly far away from the Academy. Kau asked for more independence during his time at this school, which was hard earned due to the expectation he keep the families reputation upheld. With this he's made sure that if the family moves again he can stay in Japan for as long as he wishes, and he gets a hefty allowance in order to support himself. He's basically emancipated during his time in Rousseau
